Boykie’s passion for music shaped and developed Southern Africa’s entertainment platform. As a seasoned band leader, vocalist and percussionist, he was inspired over many years by soul, funk, Motown, reggae and jazz bands from across the globe. In 1968 Boykie formed SABU, bringing an international edge to the Zimbabwe’s music industry for over 10 years. Thereafter, Heart Mind and Creation, Sabuku, Grabb and Kolor kept the country partying for a further decade whilst also supporting renowned international groups such as UB40, Aswad and Jimmy Cliff.
In 1988 Boykie left Zimbabwe for the musically rich Motor City where he became part of the David Miles Band who covered soul, motown and jazz fusion and supported legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder and The Temptations. In 2001 Boykie moved to Atlanta and was part of up and coming cutting edge jazz fusion and soul bands. He currently resides in the UK where he performs in the South East England region
